Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, one of the most dedicated
and widely revered prime ministers of Israel, visited
San Francisco on two occasions to help the Lisa Kampner
Hebrew Academy. On one such visit, while addressing an
audience of 800 secular Jews at the Hyatt Regency, Rabin
rhetorically asked why, he, a socialist, was here to
help an Orthodox rabbi. The Prime Minister affirmed his
support, stating that he helped Rabbi Lipner in the
past, was pleased to help him now, and would help him in
the future, because he believed in the importance of
Jewish education. True to his word, Rabin worked
tirelessly on behalf of the school by speaking at
banquets and holding press conferences. In addition,
Rabin delivered the keynote speech at the International
Conference of the Institute for Jewish Medical Ethics of
the Lisa Kampner Hebrew Academy held in Tel Aviv during
the Institute’s Medical Mission to Israel.
